About the project
Seattle Children’s Hospital purchased scheduling software to save time spent on scheduling, which was previously a manual process that took more than 800 labor hours per year. This senior design project aimed to understand the software’s functions in order to improve its utilization and reduce the amount of time spent scheduling. To streamline scheduling, this team recommended that Children’s create a standardized set of shift preferences, because the software requires manual overrides to adjust for individual shift preferences. In addition, they proposed that scheduling responsibilities be delegated to lower cost administrators to further cut costs.
