About the project
UW Global Travel supports students and employees traveling on behalf of the university. In the event of an emergency, the office is responsible for accounting for travelers, ensuring their safety, and coordinating assistance. This senior design project aimed to improve the current emergency management process, which was inefficient because the security manager had to manually sift through news headlines and match students to relevant emergencies. To streamline the process, the team created an aggregated news feed that imports live data, an integrated alert system that matches students to the locations of emergencies, and an unsafe traveler notification form that collects student responses.
