About the project
Starbucks store managers use a staffing tool to allocate employees and minimize customer wait time. However, the current tool is not flexible, because it keeps inputs constant, thereby producing the same output for every store. The aim of this senior design project was to develop a dynamic algorithm that treats each store uniquely and makes allocations based on a store’s specific historical data. The algorithm developed by this team has the potential to reduce customer wait time by more than a minute and increase sales by $440 per day.
